The Asian Development Bank hosted the 10th Conference of the Asia Pacific Public Procurement Network (APPeN) on 11 – 12 December 2024 at the ADB headquarters, Manila, Philippines. The conference focus on digital transformation of public procurement with emerging trends in automation and use of electronic procurement for achieving broader policy objectives and development outcomes.
A total of 80 participants representing 35 countries, mostly from the Asia-Pacific region attended the conference. Papua New Guinea was represented by the acting CEO of NPC, Joe Sapa and two senior managers, Afa Kontis and Jim Wiai. The team presented a Strategy and Roadmap for Papua New Guinea at the conference highlighting the challenges and proposed improvements in preparation for adoption of eGP in 2025 and beyond.
The National Procurement Commission is embarking on introducing electronic procurement systems to improve the government’s effort deliver public goods and services to the people of Papua New Guinea.
